Christensen citrate agar

Citrate agar has the carbon source in the form of citrate. By the formation of alkaline waste products, phenol red allows detecting fermentation of citrate. In contrast to the "hungry" mineral Simmons, Christensen includes a certain amount of glucose, yeast extract and cysteine. The main source of carbon is still citrate and redness of the environment evidence of its fermentation.

Laktose-peptone broth

The medium is intended for accumulation and identification of the growth of coliform bacteria. The growth of microorganisms is accompanied by a change in color from green to yellow, often with the release of gas. Carbon source in the medium is lactose, therefore it can be considered partially selective. Lactose negative bacteria can also evolve due to other complex organic components, but exceptional conditions of accumulation are only bacteria capable of fermentation of lactose.

Sabouraud broth

The nutrient medium provides optimal conditions for the development of yeast and fungi. The glucose concentration in the finished environment 4%. Peptone and yeast extract provide nitrogenous substances microorganisms, vitamins and growth factors. The liquid environment allows to accumulation the deep culture.

Koda medium

The Code environment has selective properties to the accumulation of CGB (escherichia coli group bacteria). Selectivity due to the presence of sulfanol (alkylaryl sulfonate). This component has an inhibitory effect on many microorganisms but does not affect the development of the CGB. In addition, the growth of bacteria capable of fermentation of lactose is accompanied by a change in color of the medium from green to yellow.

In the preparation of the environment should take into account that sulfanol provokes foaming, in particular when boiling.
